Ujjwal Chapagain received MSc. in Environmental Management from School of Environment Management and Science, Pokhara University in 2008 and MBA(Entrepreneurship) from International American University, Kings College in 2016. From studying Bachelors in Environmental Science, he started his career, working as a volunteer for 1.5 years in various environmental programs under Kathmandu Metropolitan City. He worked in the field of environment (solid waste management, water, and sanitation aspects) and organic agriculture promotion for programs supported by Toyota Environmental Activities Grant Program, Japan from 2006-2011.

Mr. Chapagain worked as consultant and trainer in the field of enterprise development till 2012. In 2012, Ujjwal established a pioneering social business, “The Himalayan Rabbit Farm” dedicated to support rural farmers in Nepal. The company has been providing high quality, professional rabbit meat supply chain so as to provide lean, delicious, all natural rabbit meat by providing small-scale farmers with everything they need to start the production of rabbit meat. The company has provided trainings to above 1000 aspiring entrepreneurs and contributed to establish rabbit farming in above 200 families from 13 districts of Nepal and introduced rabbit meat in recognized eateries and meat shops in Kathmandu. Mr. Chapagain has been awarded as Finalist for Surya Nepal Asha Social Entrepreneurship Award in 2014 and felicitated in Global Entrepreneurship Week in 2013. He has taken training on rabbit farming from World renowned rabbit experts in Nepal, China, and Europe. He participated in World Rabbit Congress in 2016 and presented the paper and is the national focal point for World Rabbit Science Association for Nepal. He is recently working to Establish Dhulikhel as a hub for rabbit meat delicacies, by collaborating with local government authority and relevant actors, so as to develop local market demand for rabbit meat consumption.
