STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT
King’s College, committed to the pursuit of academic excellence through shared learning, encourages free exchange of knowledge and experience in an environment that promotes reasoned discourse, intellectual honesty, mutual respect, courtesy and respect for the rights of all persons. Hence, the primary purpose of the Student Code of Conduct is to educate and guide students to understand their duties and responsibilities in regard to appropriate behavior and respect for others in the College community.
All students shall conduct themselves consistent with the Student Code of Conduct while on campus or participating off campus in any courses, or at all college sponsored events or programs, including field trips and excursions, conferences, competitions, sports, athletic contests, club-sponsored events, and international study programs, regardless of location and time.
The breach of Student Code of Conduct by any student shall be treated as tantamount to an offence i.e. ‘misconduct’, and shall be subject to disciplinary action leading to warning, suspension, restitution, expulsion or rustication or any other penalty as deemed appropriate by the apex body of the college.
Misconduct that constitutes grounds for disciplinary action includes, but is not limited to:
1. Acts of academic dishonesty, including, but not limited to, cheating, tampering, fabrication, plagiarism, or assisting others in acts of academic dishonesty;
2. Lying, knowingly furnishing false information, or willful false reporting to any college official, faculty or staff member;
3. Forgery, alteration, misappropriation or theft, misuse of any college document or/and records including identification;
4. Habitual late coming and bunking classes;
5. Obstruction or disruption of teaching-learning activities or of the College educational process, administrative process, disciplinary procedures, or other college functions and activities, on or off the college premises;
6. Disruptive or abusive behavior, such as verbal harassment, habitual profanity or vulgarity, physical abuse, intimidation, hazing, or stalking of any member of the college community;
7. Violence or threat of violence, assault or any willful misconduct which results in an injury or physical harm or behavior that threatens the health and safety of any member of the college community;
8. Vandalism, graffiti, or other willful misconduct which results in defacing, breakage or other damages to any property of the college or of any member of the college community;
9. Willful misuse or theft of the college property, or property in the possession of, or owned by, any member of the college community;
10. Violation of college policies or regulations concerning the use of college facilities or the time, place, and manner of public expression or the distribution, without prior approval of college authorities, of leaflets, pamphlets, or other materials;
11. Failure to comply with the directions of the college faculty or officials acting in the performance of their duties and/or failure to identify oneself to these persons when requested to do so;
12. Possession, consumption, sale, distribution or delivery of any alcoholic beverage or narcotics in college premises or on college grounds, or at college-sponsored or supervised activities, regardless of their location and time;
13. Possession or use of explosives, dangerous chemicals, or weapons on college property or at a campus function:
14. Engaging in indecent, obscene behavior or sexual harassment on college premises or at any college sponsored or supervised function;
15. Smoking in college premises or any area where smoking has been prohibited by law;
16. Knowingly assisting another person in violation of any of the standards of the student code of conduct;
17. Inviting, leading or inciting others to disrupt scheduled and/or unscheduled normal activities of or within the college;
18. Unauthorized use of electronic or other devices including cell phones inside the college buildings;
19. Willful violation of the dress code by wearing flashy, indecent clothing or other dress items;
20. Any other offence identified and considered as ‘misconduct’ by the college authorities in terms of social justice or/and maintenance of healthy and peaceful academic environment in the college;
21. Any and all acts of misconduct punishable by the law of the land.
